Combo, folder, LCD, OLED, TFT: what they mean

Decode mobile display listings in India: combo folder, with frame, LCD screen, OLED, AMOLED, TFT and Incell, and which to order for which repair.

By RepairFully Parts Desk · Published 4 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

Short answerA combo folder is a ready-to-fit display: panel and touch layer bonded together and already in the frame. A bare LCD is the panel alone, without the frame. OLED, AMOLED, TFT and Incell name the panel type. Match the words in the title to the repair before you order.

The words in a display listing

Spare-parts listings in India use shop slang that is rarely spelled out on the page. Two listings can look alike and be different parts, so the words in the title are the specification. This is how we read them.

Word in the titleWhat you getOrder it when
Combo Folder, Display AssemblyA ready-to-fit unit: the panel and touch layer bonded together and already mounted in the frame. RepairFully files these under Display With FrameThe glass is cracked or touch is dead, or the old frame is bent: the quickest repair
With FrameThe unit comes mounted in a frame; the title says so in as many wordsYou need the frame included. Check the photo as well as the title
LCD Screen, DisplayThe panel on its own, without the frame. RepairFully files these under DisplayThe frame is intact and only the panel has failed
Without touchThe display panel alone, with no touch layerThe touch glass is fine and only the panel has failed
DigitizerThe touch layer, sold on its own or as part of an assemblyTouch fails but the picture is fine, mostly on older phones
IncellAn LCD panel with the touch layer built inA budget repair; see the iPhone panel guide for the trade-offs
OLED or AMOLEDA self-lit panel; AMOLED is a kind of OLEDThe original screen is OLED and you want the same look
TFTA basic LCD panelA low-cost repair on an older or budget phone with an LCD screen
OriginalThe supplier lists the panel as original-specThe customer wants the closest match; read the product page for the exact wording

How common each word is on RepairFully

Across 9,114 display listings on 4 October 2026: 41% are Combo Folder, 15% say Original, 13% say With Frame, 12% are marked without touch, 9% are TFT, 5% mention OLED, 5% mention AMOLED and 1% are Incell. A title can carry several of these words, so the shares overlap.

In other words, most displays here are sold as a ready-to-fit unit. The assembled units are in the Display With Frame hub, and the panel on its own, without the frame, is in the Display hub.

Supplier titles say “LCD Screen” for any panel

The words in a title come from the supplier, and “LCD Screen” is used for OLED panels too. Read the panel word (Incell, OLED, AMOLED, TFT, Original) to know the panel type, and the hub name to know whether the frame is included.

Which one to order for which repair

  • Cracked glass and the touch is dead: a Combo Folder (Display With Frame). The panel and touch layer arrive bonded together.
  • Cracked glass and a bent frame: the same, since the unit brings its own straight frame.
  • Frame intact and only the panel has failed: the bare Display listing costs less, but the old frame has to be separated and re-bonded, so only choose it if you are set up for that.
  • Picture fine, touch dead: on most modern phones the touch layer is fused to the display, so you replace the whole unit. A digitizer on its own is mostly for older handsets.
  • An OLED phone and a tight budget: an Incell or other LCD listing works but looks different. See iPhone screens: Incell vs Hard vs Soft OLED for what changes.

Check these before you order

  1. Match the model code, not just the name (find your model code).
  2. Pick your phone first so each listing shows verified, confirm variant or not compatible (verify compatibility).
  3. Read the whole title: a word like Original, With Frame or without touch changes what arrives.
  4. See which other phones use the same part on the compatible phones finder, which helps when your exact model is not listed.
  5. Keep the old part next to the new one and compare the flex and the frame before you peel any adhesive (installation prep).

FAQ

What is a Combo Folder?
It is the trade name for a ready-to-fit display unit: the panel and touch layer bonded together and already mounted in the frame. On RepairFully these sit in the Display With Frame hub. If the frame matters to you, check the photo and the title, and ask before ordering if it is not clear.
Is a combo the same as a folder?
In shop talk a combo is the display with its touch layer and a folder is that combo already in its frame, but sellers use the two words loosely. On RepairFully, a Combo Folder listing is the frame-mounted unit. The full title and the photo are the safest guide.
Does AMOLED mean something different from OLED?
AMOLED is a kind of OLED, one that uses an active matrix to drive each pixel. Listings use the two words interchangeably, and both mean a self-lit panel as opposed to an LCD.
Can I fit an LCD where the phone had an OLED?
It will usually work, but the picture looks different: blacks are greyer and battery use can be higher. Quote it as the budget option and say so on the job sheet.
